I am a PhD student interested in examining the linkages between aquatic plant traits and their physical environment, and determining how changing environmental conditions may alter the functionality of freshwater ecosystems at various spatial and temporal scales. My research is reliant on the global database of aquatic plant functional traits being developed through the MAP Project.

My research borders between landscape geography and freshwater sciences. Focusing on both standing and running waters, I study contemporary changes in landform types and functional adaptations to the local environment. I like to build scalable landscape models but also enjoy muddy fieldwork.

I am a wetland ecologist at the Northeast Institute of Geography and Agroecology (IGA), Chinese Academy of Sciences. My research focuses on examining the “trait-trait” and “trait-environment” relationships of wetland plants in various habitat conditions to reveal their adaptive strategies as well as feedbacks to ecosystem functioning. My research approaches include field work, greenhouse experiment, as well as big data/meta-analyses.

I am a post-doctoral researcher at the Universities of León (Spain) and Oulu (Finland). I am specialised in various biogeographical research topics related to freshwaters using community-level assessments at different spatial and temporal scales. My main foci are aquatic plants and insects, although I lately widened my expertise to exciting new fields aimed at closing the gap between palaeobiological and ecological research.
